Niz zečju rupu/Down the Rabbit Hole
The performance Down the Rabbit Hole was first presented as a work-in-progress (pre-premiere) in 2022, and was completed and officially premiered in 2025 with both former and new performers.
About the performance
During the pandemic period, we stepped into a state of anomic consciousness. Everything that is is not, can be, or may not be. Referencing the “nonsense” found in Alice in Wonderland, the dancers enter a process of repeated ascents and descents, fragmentation, running, jumping, and constant attempts to solve problems, abandoning roles and staging play itself as a performance. The stage becomes a symbol of Sisyphean labour — a continuous search for meaning in the process of creating dance material.
We start and stop, rush forward and disappear, try and fail, begin again and again. In these stage “fragments,” we attempted to capture the atmosphere of our creative process. Through numerous dead ends, openings and closures, trials and errors, the only thing that consistently remains — and drives us forward — is shared energy, our play. In the end, this play becomes and remains the only meaning within which we endlessly and uncompromisingly invest ourselves, despite a system that relentlessly consumes us.
