Guest Performance by the Kelkope Professional Dance Ensemble

May 23 — May 23

We enriched the first semester of the Little School of Contemporary Dance with a visit from the Kelkope Professional Dance Ensemble, which presented its performance and educational programme in Split.

The dance performance ON(TH(E))LINE, choreographed by Tamara Savićević and performed by professional dancers Sonja Biglbauer, Kristina Legin, Dora Radić Lima and Lucija Segarić, took place at the Amphitheatre of Dom mladih Split on 23 May 2026.

The performance ON(TH(E))LINE explores the concept of the line as a symbol of formation, structure and social norms. Through dance and physical movement, it raises questions about personal boundaries, inner fears, insecurities and the need for liberation.

Throughout different physical and emotional stages of the performance, the dancers embark on a journey of confronting their own limitations, taking risks and seeking inner freedom. The line thus becomes a space in which individuals confront themselves, but also a boundary that can be crossed. By stepping beyond it, new possibilities emerge, along with new ways of connecting and new forms of existence.

A special highlight of the visit was the combination of the performance and educational programmes. On the same day, the Dance Fusion workshop was held in the Blue Hall of Dom mladih, led by Tamara Savićević, Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer of the Kelkope Professional Dance Ensemble.

Through hands-on activities, participants of the Little School of Contemporary Dance had the opportunity to explore the ensemble’s movement vocabulary, experiment with movement, and develop their own dance expression and creativity.

The visit by the Kelkope Professional Dance Ensemble offered participants of the Little School of Contemporary Dance an opportunity to experience contemporary dance through direct engagement with professional dance artists — from the process of exploration and creative work in the workshop to the experience of watching a professional dance performance.

Kelkope is a professional dance ensemble and arts organisation based in Zagreb, which has been developing its distinctive modern jazz dance style since 1993. In addition to producing dance performances, the ensemble places special emphasis on education, working with young dancers, and creating opportunities for dance exploration and artistic development. The ensemble’s Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer is Tamara Savićević.

The guest performance was organised by Tiramola Dance Association, with the support of the Multimedia Cultural Centre Split, Kultura Nova Foundation, National Foundation for Civil Society Development, Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, City of Split, and Split-Dalmatia County.

We would like to thank the Kelkope Dance Ensemble and Tamara Savićević for an inspiring encounter, and all participants for their energy, openness and shared exploration of movement.

The Little School of Contemporary Dance continues its journey – through new encounters, new experiences and new explorations of dance.
