Crveno kao zeleno/Red like green
The contemporary dance performance “Red as Green” strives for experimentation in performance and questioning the intertwining of the subjective image of the world or synthetic environment in our thoughts and collective consciousness, the world of ideas through which we explain the existence of concepts, universals, symbols, and signs, and the ways in which we assign meanings to them. Taking differentiated perception as a starting point, the concept of red can thus have countless meanings, associations, and constructions: red as blood, red as an earthquake, burgundy red, enovrc, red as the number one or red as the letter A (synesthesia, ideasthesia, autistic savant), and it can also be red as green if we ask color-blind people who do not distinguish the color red (protanopes). Red and green run throughout the entire performance as a less obvious construct of the choreography, but a clear impulse and co-creator of the scene. The dancers map out the dance space, and the bodies that create the choreography—or rather, the choreography that creates bodily movement and the dramaturgy of the performance—are constructed and built from movement, motion, and gestures following the developmental stages of a child. The choreography emphasizes the mediating function of the body and draws out the potential of basic bodily functions. The dancers use all the senses in creating different bodily sensations and assigning meaning.
